# 4 Swap-a-rama-rama

I’m lucky enough to know an enthusiastic swapper in my neighbourhood – and she organizes seasonal clothing swaps about 4 times a year. These are awesome for rotating out those jeans that look awesome (on everyone else but you) and trading them for a new sweater or pair of boots that indeed look awesome on your fine booty. These are easy peasy to organize:

  • Email your list of ladies with a time & date about 4 weeks out, if you’re hosting provide address and RSVP details, remind ladies that this isn’t your regular donation box finds, but for gently-loved clothing and accessories that remain in fine condition (ie: leave those gym socks at home – or fix them dammit! See tip #2)
  • When ladies start to arrive, start to organize the clothes into neat piles, jeans, sweaters, t-shirts, etc.
  • Once everyone has arrived, hit the GO button and watch the melee begin! Tradesies are of course welcomed and ensure that you’ve got a little vino to watch the whole thing unfold.

Ask Bernadette about the success of swaps – she scored a sweet pair of 7’s at the last one!

The key to success? Give the girls lots of heads up time to prep their clothes and go through their closets. It’s also recommended that you do this at season’s changes as most of us are going through our clothes and thinking “I didn’t wear this all summer, why did I buy it?”
